The real world is more amazing than anything that can be made up, and that is why What On Earth! magazine is the fastest growing children’s magazine in the UK.

Purely non-fiction and aimed at children aged 8–14, every edition is jam-packed full of the most astonishing and fantastic facts and stories, surrounded with award winning graphics and imagery, engaging both the proficient and reluctant reader whilst helping to build a strong framework of knowledge through natural curiosity.

That’s why the annual What On Earth! Nationwide Schools Quiz Challenge is hugely exciting, action packed and of significant educational value.

Free of cost for the schools to enter and with all the resources needed being provided, any school can enjoy the magazine and offer their children the chance to interact with schools from across the nation whilst experiencing a touch of healthy competitive spirit.

The quiz is designed to be accessible for all abilities and is run as an ‘open magazine’ format.

Teams will receive digital copies of the magazine in advance which they need to read and digest as 99% of the questions are taken directly from then. All teams have an equal chance as they can use the magazines during the competition, but the better they are known, the faster the team will be able to answer the questions!

There are hundreds of book prizes to be won during the live on-line heats at the beginning of November, and eventually four teams from the junior 8-11 age group and four teams from the senior 11-14 age group will go forward to take part in a glitzy, expenses paid trip for the team and teachers to the Live London Final on November 29th where there are trophies and medals galore, as well as more book prizes!

It is free to enter and fun to participate. Visit whatonearth.co.uk/quiz for full details.

The Schools Quiz Challenge 2024 is a wonderful way to introduce children and schools to a world of non-fiction where children read because they want to, and not because they are told to. No preparation is required by the teachers, and it is free and easy to enter. All schools are welcome to participate and see if they can lift the trophy as Quiz Champion of the Year!
