Pearson has launched its second Lit in Colour Pioneers programme and the deadline for applications is just two weeks away!

Pearson believes that it is important that students should be given access to books by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic writers, and those from a range of backgrounds. Last year, Pearson and publisher Penguin Books helped over 100 schools and colleges make a positive step forward by changing a GCSE English Literature text to one by a writer of colour. The texts, teaching resources, CPD, support programmes and more, are offered free of charge for all participating schools.

A Pioneer from last year commented: “We want to make the curriculum as representative as possible, to open up our students’ minds to the world outside their neighbourhoods, and to ensure that no young person feels excluded by the books we teach and read. Our curricula needs this. Our children need this. It’s time for change, and we’re thrilled to be a part of this movement towards achieving genuine diversity.”

12,000 students benefited from the Lit in Colour Pioneers programme last year and this year, they want to support even more!

To support the integration of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic writers into GCSE & A Level English Literature texts in September, Pearson and Penguin Random House are joining forces once again to provide 100 secondary schools and colleges with access to free set texts and more!

Their Lit in Colour Pioneers Programme will offer participating schools and colleges free set texts by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic authors, a series of teaching resources, CPD, support programmes and more!

The deadline for applications is fast approaching – 5pm on 31st March 2022.
