The School for Good and Evil is a amazing book which has a wide variation of excellent literature.
As a lot of people like adventure books this is for you! I think ages 8 - 15 would enjoy this book. It is spooky in a fun way!
The book is about two girls who want to go to a magical school for the good and evil. When the girls arrive they swap schools and have an adventure as they try to retum to their true destiny with a few bumps on the way of course! But maybe they are exactly where they belong...
Definitely an amazing book, however, some of the characters didn't appeal to me.
This book was awesome, but I don't like some of the characters so much.
Every four years, two children get kidnapped and taken to a school. One goes to Good. One goes to Evil. And from there? Once they graduate... their life begins in a fairytale.
The cover made me want to try this book. Definitely. The dark background made me know it wouldn't be one of those happy, happy books, but instead a book with hard times and excitement.
I tried it at first. The start didn't seem to hook me in. I wanted to put it down and go read another book. I am grateful I didn't put it down- because once the girls got taken to The School for Good and Evil, it started to get interesting.
The two girls, Sophie and Agatha get taken to the school. But pretty Sophie gets taken to Evil and ugly Agatha gets taken to Good! There is a problem though. They're meant to be friends. But sometimes in the book it doesn't really look like that at all. They argue a lot and Sophie sometimes uses Agatha.
There are a lot of funny parts in the story. Made me laugh a lot. Such as this:
“Well, for starters, you only wear black.”
“Because it doesn’t get dirty.”
“You don’t ever leave your house.”
“People don’t look at me there.”
“For the Create-a-Tale Competition, your story ended with Snow White eaten by vultures and Cinderella drowning herself in a tub.”
“I thought it was a better ending.”
I prefer the character Agatha to Sophie. That's because Sophie is whiny and complaining. She just goes on about wanting a prince and her skin needs moisturising and needs a new dress. Overall, you could say Sophie is nice, but when she's jealous she becomes evil, evil evil. I don't exactly like Tedros either. First he thinks Agatha is terrible. Then he thinks Sophie is also terrible. Suddenly he thinks Sophie is nice- and then he thinks she's terrible. Finally Agatha is the nice one. How long does it take to make up your mind?
However, on the writing style, I loved that! It was so interesting (well the start wasn't so interesting) and made me able to picture everything in my head. It's also very descriptive and precise.
I would say 4 stars for this book. I definitely liked it, but some of the characters didn't appeal to me.
