A genuinely delightful American Mystery that is an authentic tale which carries a sense of possibility and hope!
Don’t Doubt the Rainbow: American Mystery is truly an entrancing sequel of a compelling contemporary detective series that has inspired me to further explore the genre that is so suspenseful, mysterious, and captivating. Full of riveting twists and turns in the plot, the novel is based on a young Detective, Edie Marbles, a nationally renowned detective who averted a catastrophe. The author creates a fascinating novella that encompasses not only a storyline full of an exotic mixture of tension and excitement but revolves around mental health education and proves to be a valuable asset to the improvement of the well-being of many young readers
The protagonist, Edie and her grandpa uncover a deep ancestral secret that haunts the backbone of Edie’s journey to Toronto, Washington DC, North Carolina and Dartmoor. Readers are taken through the intrinsically detailed adventure as when all cards are revealed they set off to combat another torrential crime undercover, embarking on an escapade to bring justice. I found this a mesmerising addition to the literary world with an eye-catching cover dotted with American landmarks with the bold words “AMERICAN MYSTERY”. I immersed myself into this book as the novel is covered with spectacular hints and teases, “After all these years, I’d like to talk to you. Soon. Please. It’s important. I need your help.”
This exceptionally innovative book is the key to discovering your passion. If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan at heart, I would whole-heartedly recommend this thrilling tale to you!

A thrilling tale; both a intriguing mystery plot and a powerful subplot of relatable teen life
This is the third book in a great mystery series and just as good as the previous two. In this one, our favourite detective Eddie goes to America to meet her grandad who has a shocking secret about the family. I love the way it is written because it has the depth of teen fiction but also the classic mystery tale. I really like the main character Eddie and her brother because they are relatable, fun characters. It is perfect for anyone who wants a fast paced, intriguing and a very clever plot. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery or even just a well-written, fun book.
Another great book in the Don't Doubt the Rainbow series. Felt so good to be back with Edie again, chasing up more clues to solve a mystery!!
I have read the first two books in this series so it was really good to back with Edie again.
This time she travels quite a bit! She goes to Toronto, Washington DC, her home in Crouch End and also down to Devon.
Edie always has her dad and brother in the background supporting her and of course her friends Lizzie, Charlie, Yasmina and Harry although sometimes they don't realise they have been dragged into her exploits as she does it without always telling them what she's up to.
Edie is only 13 and she gets into all sorts of fixes, that she is luckily able to get out of. In this book she has to track down an unknown person who has been sending her grandpa emails and WhatsApp messages, work out what has happened to her fathers new girlfriend who has mysteriously disappeared and also visit her friend Harry's dying dad, who lets her into a massive secret.
The story this time has a witchy feel to it, but it's not like Halloween witches, it's people who believe in Wicca, which is more about caring for and loving the planet than casting spells.
I do like how these books give you lots of ideas for dealing with anxiety and in this one they discuss meditations.
I think these books are really cool and I already know a bit about Wicca so it was good to see it in a story.
Really would recommend this series of books to anyone, just don't go following Edies examples, because that girl will get into a car or boat with anyone!!
Brilliant book, loved every page of it.
Fantastic book from start to end, kept me wanting to read another page after each one. The whole detective and trying to solve a family buried secret was brilliant, I loved every minute of it. Would definitely recommend this book if you like mysteries and puzzles to be solved.
A detective story full of twists and turns to uncover a family secret
From start to finish, this book was a real page-turner, one I found hard to put down. The setting took me on a journey to America where the main character visits her grandfather who reveals a family secret. The characters are really well described and relatable- it is like you have known them your whole life. One character that really made the book is the main character Edie Marble, a thirteen-year-old who finds herself in all kinds of situations, often dragging Lizzie and her brother Eli along for the ride. It is mysterious and will keep the readers on their feet when solving puzzles and cases of missing people. It kept me captivated from start to finish with its unpredictable twists and turns and if detective stories are for you, then this book will be right up your street.

A thrillingly modern mystery full of detective genius, decade-old family secrets, and helpful tips for living your best life!
This is a wonderful book that explores themes of family secrets, travel and mental health. Journey around the world; from Toronto to Washington DC, to North Carolina to a scenic hike through the countryside of Dartmoor in Devon that may offer a little more than expected. Edie may only be thirteen years old, but her genius sleuthing skills, her burning desire to help others, and a deep love for her friends and family enable her to solve decade-old mysteries. The novel is written in a modern style that captures what it really feels like to be a teenager in today's world. The writer delves into the very current issue of mental health that affects so many young people all around the world and addresses it in a smart and intuitive style that both encourages and advises people who may have any kind of worries or anxieties about life in today's world making for an exciting, enthralling and educational read, whilst maintaining the very essence of a good detective novel.
Mysteries and missing people, with a side of witchcraft and betrayal in the latest Edie Marble case. With unexpected twists and turns, book three in the series is a real page-turner!
Book 3 in this fantastic series lives up to the first two books! Edie Marble is on holiday with her family in America where she visits her Grandfather who reveals a family secret which sets her off investigating a new case. Along with mysteries and missing people, this case comes with a side of witchcraft and betrayal. It’s a real page turner with lots of twists and turns which keep you guessing what will happen next. My favourite character is Zoe who shows lots of kindness and compassion. She keeps helping Edie even after her favour gets repaid. A great read, I would really recommend.
American Mystery is an incredible book with a brilliant storyline. I feel that I can relate to Edie, as I have very similar personality traits to her, and I think that we would be very good friends in real life
Overall, I think that American Mystery is an incredible book with a brilliant storyline. I feel that I can relate to Edie, as I have very similar personality traits to her, and I think that we would be very good friends in real life-if she was an actual person. I would have to say that, although I love Edie’s character, my favourite character is Goddess Diana. This is because I love her perspective on life, and that the world can be an incredible place. One of my favourite things that Goddess Diana says is “Decluttering is about letting go of everything that no longer has purpose in life and no longer brings joy." I think what she is trying to say here is that decluttering isn’t just about your space, but your mind too. You could have a beautifully organised space, and not much in it, but if it doesn’t spark joy, then there really isn’t any point. The word “purpose” means “the reason something exists, done, made used, etc.”, meaning that everything exists for a reason, and if that something isn’t sparking joy-well what’s the point in keeping that thing? My favourite part Is when Goddess Diana is explaining what essence is to Edie and her friend Lizzie. “The “I am” behind everything else that represents the content of your daily experience.” This is my favourite part because it explains the true “essence” behind life itself. So, in all I think that this book is a great story, and anybody from the age of twelve should definitely give it a read!
A fun thriller with great characters, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thriller that isn’t too stressful.
Don’t Doubt the Rainbow: American Mystery was a fun, light-paced book. It did not have all the twists and turns I expected when I started, but the mystery was good enough to keep me interested. I did not enjoy how fantasy elements were suddenly added near the end and feel like the genre-mixing did not add anything to the plot which would have been better without it. The relationships between the central family, I feel were portrayed very well. One of the key features of any good thriller is plot twists and lots of them. Sadly, they just were not there in this book. That being said I did enjoy this book immensely and would certainly pursue more of the author’s works. All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thriller that isn’t too stressful.
