Yomi helps the Yumboes save the beast city from hunters stealing their moon magic. An exciting second book in the series with great pictures. 5 stars!
I had been wanting to read Yomi and the Power of the Yumboes ever since I saw in a magazine that the first book in the series had been shortlisted for a children's book award.
Yomi is a young girl who is trying to save magical beasts from hunters in Africa. The hunters are trying to kill the beasts to steal their moon magic.
Yomi is organising files for her Grandad and decides to start reading the Atlas of Beasts, where she finds out about the Yumboes, a species of magical beast that lives in Africa.
One night she is woken by fireworks and goes into the kitchen to get something to eat as her brother had eaten all her cookies. In the kitchen she finds a Yumboe stealing her food. The Yumboe wants Yomi to save their city and Yomi agrees! So with the help of her brother she goes on an adventure with the Yumboe.
This book was so gripping that I read it in one afternoon. I can't wait to read the next book. I feel so excited and nervous to see what happens next!
I would recommend this book to any adventurous reader who likes fun and exciting books. I give the book 5 stars!
The pictures were particularly good as they had good detail and looked quite fun.
Lovely book, exciting story and kept us wanting to read more.
We really enjoyed this book, we love all the yomi books we have read so far. We love the adventure and always trying to help and save people and creatures.
