Billy and the Giant Adventure Reader Reviews

Billy and the Giant Adventure

I really enjoyed reading Billy and the Giant Adventure. It was a funny and magical story with beautiful illustrations.

Billy and the Giant Adventure is a magical fairytale-style story that deals with environmental issues, how vital nature is and the importance of being compassionate towards children with learning difficulties. I particularly liked the chapters with the Boonas – they were very amusing! I also liked how the story was passed down to Billy’s children – like a magical heirloom to be preserved. The illustrations were very detailed as they really brought the story to life! Some of the scenes were a bit emotional and I think perhaps that there could have been more magical creatures but overall the story is immensely entertaining and was definitely worth reading!

I loved reading this Book.
Twins August and Jesse asked their Dad to make up a story one night.
Dad decides to tell a story from his childhood.
A child named Billy who enjoyed making things, he hung around at weekends with Anna, Andy, and Jimmy.
They liked to explore the forest but an old man tells them to stay away from it.
Inside the forest they find a fairytale creature call Basil.
It’s a magical story with action excitement monsters and funny humour.
I couldn’t put the book down. I got into the book and it was really good. My imagination was running wild. I could really see the story inside my head.

I loved this adventure book. It was full of mythical creatures and it has a message about saving the environment. The pictures are great too. I couldn't put it down- I would definitely recommend it!

I really enjoyed this book. I found it was easy to read even though it was quite long. The story really hooked me in and I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to find out what happened next to Billy. In the book Billy's telling the story of when he was a kid. He finds some sprites in the wood which are a bit like fairies. They need some help to fix the rhythm. This is a bit like the beat of nature that helps all living things survive. They need to save it so they discover the source of the problem and they have lots of adventures along the way as they try to save the world. There is a lot of mythical creatures like giants, sprites and boonas. The illustrations are really good in this book and it makes the creatures seem very real when you are reading. Sometimes I struggle to finish longer books but this one kept me reading all the way through. Jamie Oliver has even included some recipes at the back which are things that they eat in the book. I might try out some of these at home. I also loved Billy 's tree house. It was full of loads of cool gadgets. It was a great book and I would definitely recommend it!

A thrilling, gripping book

Billy and the giant adventure is a thrilling, gripping book. It pulls you into the amazing fantasy world of the Sprites, Boonas and Giants. It is a well thought out book and appropriate for all ages. It is an enjoyable book and I loved it!
Full of myths and legends, the forest is full of secrets not even its inhabitants know about . Billy and his friends help to save rhythm and the planet. They help give the Boonas a taste of their own medicine which will hopefully stop them trying to eat the Sprites and make them play their part in the rhythm. The land is once safe again and Billy and his friends played an enormous role in helping it to happen!

This book follows Billy and his friends who are not allowed to go into waterfall woods. No one has been near for decades due to the strange things that are rumoured to have gone on.
Billy and his friends couldn't help but want to explore and that came true when they found a secret way in.
When the friend's get in the realise that waterfall woods is full of magic.
Dive into this book and see what unusual creatures and giant adventures billy and his friends go on.
Best book this year for me.

Great book and lovely illustrations.

Welcome to the Waterfall Woods. Jamie has really thought about making this book as helpful as possible for dyslexic readers. He's chosen a font that is really easy to read, plus has started each chapter on the right-hand page, to make the book easy to navigate.

A book full of adventure and mystery. This book is for you if you enjoy novels that portray alternate worlds with mythical creatures such as Sprites (which are fairies). A book full of description-realistic and imaginary. The added touch of the recipes at the end (thanks to the chef author Jamie Oliver), were a fun and ‘novel’ addition.

This book was very interesting because it showed different perspectives of different worlds. When Billy (the protagonist) and his friends went and explored in the woods at the beginning of the story, they met the Sprites, which were fairy-like creatures.
I liked how they spoke differently and expressed the way they spoke using a sort of dialect.
Towards the end, the description of the atmosphere and setting brought the book to life- the detail and imagery was really vivid.
At the end of the book, there is a nice added touch of different recipes to get children into the amazing world of cooking.

Epic adventure story with friends and mystery.

I wanted to reads this book for 2 reasons. The first I like Jamie Oliver, he is a good cook and I have watched him on T.V. The second reason because I liked the front cover. I like the Pixies and the background. It told me that they were going to go on an epic adventure. I really liked the illustrations.
When I started reading the book I did find it a bit creepy with all the mysterious things that were going on around Billy. I really enjoyed the story and I hope to read the next book. My favourite part of the story was reading about the food that Billy was eating.
