What's New? Talent Show Takeover is an interesting yet catastrophe-filled book full of eye-catching details.
What's New, Harper Drew? is an amazing book full of innovative writing skills and easy-to-read pages with some fascinating illustrative drawings. When Harper and her chaotic family find out about a missing python in the neighbourhood, her whole family goes crazily overboard. With her mum re-arranging furniture and using too many cleaning products and her father starting a whole new process of retiling the bathroom, Harper tells us the drama that goes on within her family household. While her mum SNAKEPROOFS herself, her brother spends 1 HOUR doing his nightly hair routine and her father stands outside in the pouring weather SHOWERING, Harper returns to carefully work out different fundraising activities she and her friends 'THE TRIPLE THREAT' can continue!
Personally, I really enjoyed reading this book as it was full of humorous jokes and occasional illustrations. This book was laid out in a unique and interesting way as a journal, which gave the storyline another different and eventful twist. I loved reading this book and finding out about how Harper deals with her BEYOND NORMAL FAMILY! If you too find reading spectacular books that are catastrophe-filled or if you too can relate with Harper, I would love to recommend this book to you!

Harper always finds a way to solve the problem! If you enjoyed Diary of a Wimpy Kid, I think you'll enjoy this as well, a funny, light hearted read!
Reading this book I soon realised that Harper's older brother is very spoilt! I would not want him to be my brother, he seems very self centred and never put Harper's feelings first. Not only does Harper have to live with her older brother, she also has lots of other problems such the missing ring, the talent show, a snake on the loose and a broken shower! Harper deals with all of this as best she can but without much help from her family. Her parents seems to make all of Harper's problems even worse, this made the book quite funny though. Her mum made me laugh when she tried to snake proof herself! I really liked Harper as she made me smile and I think we would be good friends. The way Harper dealt with everything was hilarious, she always sorts it out in the end! I'd recommend this book for children aged 10 and upwards so that they can relate to Harper who is a similar age. The book is light hearted and an easy read full of fun. If you enjoyed Diary of a Wimpy Kid, I think you'll enjoy this as well, even though it's more about family life than high school, it is written in a similar way with a first person perspective of events.

What's new Harper Drew was a funny story. There were lots of moments that it made me laugh out loud. My favourite character was her brother Troy. I enjoyed the illustrations. There was a snake on the loose and her mum found lots of ways to keep the snake away from her. The story is set out as a diary entry and you get to see what she gets up to through out each day. You feel like you are in the story with the descriptions. I like that her friends all look out for each other.
Kathy Weeks is a brilliant author. Her story is real to life, and it has an important theme of friendship. I like how there are pictures on the pages.

I think you will like this story if you like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. They are both the type of story where the main character writes in a journal about themselves. You can also read What’s New, Harper Drew; it is the book before this one. I would recommend this book because once you start reading it, you cannot stop. It is exciting and thrilling. I liked this book because of the humour in it. I also like how she enjoys learning things at school. Her classmate calls her a nickname at school which is also funny.
This book is recommended for people who are fans of Dork Diaries and A Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
This book was hilarious. A girl called Harper Drew has a crazy family who get up to very strange things. For instance, her little brother and his friend find a snake in the kitchen cupboard. Her mum wears a wetsuit to protect herself from the snake. Her older brother is hogging the bathroom and drinking coke out of green peppers. Her dad broke the shower and hasn’t been able to fix it since then as he is terrible at DIY and is standing outside in the rain having a shower where all the neighbours can see him in the driveway.
This is a great book for teenagers as it is translatable to the things that we all come across in life. Harper Drew is a great character and I hope there will be more books to come as it's a great read!
