This book is one of the best I have ever read! For all fans of social and fashion history, it's a must-read.
I was so excited when I received this book! The glamour of the front cover drew me in and by the end of the first page I loved it.
The story is about Myrtle the maid and Sylvia the lady seeking their dreams of becoming dress designers and makers in a world where they shouldn't mix, in the 1920s when class barriers were still up. The complex characters enthralled me and I particularly liked Marmalade, the Duchess. I loved the historical aspect and how it almost brings history to life.
I love the fashion illustrations because they are so detailed and help me picture the extravagant costumes of 1920s debutantes.
This is my favourite book and I can't wait for the sequel.
This book is a page turner and I can't wait to see what will happen next.
When I first got Sequins and Secrets, I knew I would love this book. I could tell that the story would be just as good as the name and cover. I started to read that evening. I didn't want the story to end. Eventually, at 9:30 I snuggled down into my bed covers with Myrtle and Sylvia's story whirring round my head. The next morning, I was raving about it to my parents and sister. The next night I read it too. And the next. And the next.
The story of the two young friends with a passion for fashion and a daring streak in 1920s London captivated me. All of the characters are interesting (and most of them) fun. I especially like Marmalade/Duchess of Avalon since she is hilarious and unafraid to be bold.
This book is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
