The Smell That Wasn't Funny

This funny story about silly clowns with great illustrations had the pupils giggling.

The Smell That Wasn’t Funny was very funny. Four clowns decide to drive to a theme park on their day off and during the journey trouble ensues. All squashed up in the small confines of the car a terrible smell emerges.

The Year 3 class sat quietly (except when they were laughing) and listened to the antics of this silly group of clowns. The engaging text and colourful illustrations held the pupils’ attention throughout. The pupils were so eager to borrow the book afterwards that I had to put names down on the reservation list.

We really liked the questions at the end which facilitated our book talk. Pupils were divided on their opinion of whether a certain person should’ve owned up! A great book to have for pupils reading at purple level and in the library.

An excellent little book with a super title! An enjoyable read with all children and even better that its linked to a reading phase!

This is a quirky book that children will enjoy. The title quickly catches your attention and children will find it funny and engaging. The colourful illustrations help with the story and make it accessible to all.

The author has cleverly chosen other titles that compliment the range.
