The perfect winter read.
The Good Bear is a beautiful story and one which I really loved reading! Thea has a brilliant imagination and loves writing. She also loves spending Christmas with her mum. But, when Thea has to visit her father for Christmas in Norway and celebrate Christmas the way his new family does, the magic starts to fade. That is until she meets a bear in the woods, and suddenly, life is a lot more exciting and offers more inspiration for her story writing!
I loved Thea because she is a headstrong girl who simply wanted to get her Dad’s attention. The idea of the good bear was lovely, and it was great to watch them become friends, but even better to see how Thea finally found her place in her new family.
This is a warm story and one which is perfect for reading during winter and Christmas time.
This is a gorgeous wintry warm loving story that shows that friendship can be found wherever and whenever it is needed.
This book is absolutely wonderful. It almost feels like a warm snuggly bear. It was really easy to read. I liked the short chapters, but that didn’t mean I put it down a lot because I just got engrossed in the story and then I couldn’t put it down.
This is a story about Thea whose mum and dad are divorced and living in different countries. Thea goes on a plane to spend one Christmas with her dad and his new family in Norway. It’s very sad, but her dad doesn’t treat her the way she wants or expects and his new family seem strange to her. It doesn’t help that they don’t have any signs of Christmas, no decorations or anything.
Thea’s birthday is near Christmas and she had written a letter to her father asking for a typewriter because she wants to be a writer. But that isn’t what she gets. Instead she gets a pair of blue wellies, but they do lead her to find a much better present, one that teaches her and her father some valuable lessons.
I really really loved this story. I think I will read it every December to remind me what Christmas is about, not just presents.
I would recommend this book to everyone!!!
A book that makes you want to read more and not stop.
The book tells the tale of a young girl who travels to see her father in a foreign country during Christmas time. Here she meets a bear but as the story unfolds the book begins to get more exciting, especially when the bear is in danger.
This book covers emotions, traditions and nature. I have loved reading this book. I have found it a gentle book, easy to read and full of "what happens next?". It makes me want to read more every time I pick it up.
A book ideal for boys and girls sound age 8.
