This book is really funny and it also teaches you a lesson. Great fun!
The front cover and the name of this book made me want to read it straight away. I love the name of the main character, Laura Norder, and the name of the place where she lives, Butts Canyon, they both made me laugh. Lots of the characters in the book also have really funny names as well, like Jen Errol, the owner of the general store.
This book is about a 10 year old girl who ends up running a bad guy out of town and then becomes the sheriff. This is great until she introduces her golden rules, which seem very good at the time. But then she keeps adding more and more and punishing people if they don’t follow them. In the end, someone comes along to make her see the error of her ways, but will she be able to catch and find out who Duncan Disorderly is?
Please read this book, you won’t stop laughing and will learn a lesson at the end. I loved it! 5 stars
Even when placed on a table, the book is just beckoning you to read it and many will find that temptation very hard to resist and soon you will find yourself settling down and having a read.
The book Laura Norder, Sheriff of Butts Canyon is a great option for those children who are just getting into more complex books but also for those who are unwilling to pick up a book and read it. It suits those types of people because of the size of the font makes it less intimidating and all of the great illustrations, not forgetting the brilliant way that the author has worded the book: not too hard to understand but also still enough complexity that just pushes this book that much better than all of the others out there.
Not only does this book make a great read for the unwilling, but also the other book lovers out there that are hungry for a good book to lighten the day. I am very sure that this book will satisfy their needs as it did mine.

Laura, the sheriff's daughter bravely saves her part of town from the terrifying "Ten Gun Ben" and then goes on to be sheriff. However, soon after that, she releases her Golden Rules out into the town. They are supposed to stop people from misbehaving and making the town a safer place but many people are just very annoyed.
Now, another outlaw that goes by the name of "Duncan Disorderly" comes and tries to break the rules.
Will Laura crack under pressure and cancel the golden rules or will she once more be the heroine of Butts Canyon?
I suppose that you will have to read the book to find out...
Interesting book about the 10-year-old Sheriff of Butts Canyon.
This is a amazing book because it shows why you shouldn’t be rude to people because you never know how bad they can feel. My favourite character is Laura because no matter while all people of Butts Canyon were trying for no rules, she never gave up in implementing her rules. It is interesting how the author gave such a well imaginative character that young children would dream of, ruling the town. I would love to recommend this book to all the children.

What a fun book. Full of laugh-out-loud moments and a fabulous feisty heroine, if slightly misguided, showing the town's inhabitants what's what. A quick read with plenty to enjoy.
Laura Norder: Sheriff of Butt's Canyon by Guy Bass is a great short read. The town of Butt's Canyon is being threatened by Ten Gun Ben. Chaos and lawlessness is threatened until the sheriff's daughter, Laura Norder, faces down the villainous Ten Gun Ben and takes over as Sheriff. Laura likes rules and soon has the town running just how she thinks it should, but do the residents agree? Soon the mysterious Duncan Disorderly is thwarting her rules and there is nothing angrier in the whole of the Wild West than a thwarted Sheriff who is only ten-years-old.
A lovely read full of puns and jokes. The story moves along quickly and the message is clearly told. Another winner from Barrington Stoke and Guy Bass.
A funny, easy to read book.
The book is about a character who lives in the Wild West called Laura Norder. She becomes the sheriff of Butts Canyon when she stands up to Ten Gun Ben, an outlaw. She demands that he does not break the Golden Rules. After this she makes all the people in Butts Canyon follow her Golden Rules.and there are lots of rules. Laura is a bit like some of the girls in my class, bossy. I felt sorry for her Dad. I thought some of the names of people in Butts Canyon were a bit weird. The illustrations are funny, especially of the animals. I would recommend this book. It is easy to read and quite funny.
