Mouse Mountain is an adventure story based around two mice, Dan and Hawthorne who have the ability to “shift” or move by the power of thought. A good fantasy atmosphere is set and there is a lot of action, as Dan the mouse discovers that Hawthorne has led him up a mountain to meet a not so friendly Weasel.

A sweet friendship develops between Dan the mouse and Milly the cat who helps him when he is in trouble. There is a group of rats who are the enemies of the mice and cats, who lock them up in their own dungeons! There is a lot of action but some of the descriptions of the fights are a little graphic for younger children, I would say the target audience for this book is readers aged nine to twelve. There is a happy ending and the characters of Dan and Milly are very likeable.
