"This delightful children’s story has beautiful illustrations and just like Mac is inspired to persevere with learning French, children will be encouraged to learn a few words of French."
Mac is struggling with his French homework. He complains to his sister, Meli, as he points to his toy flamingo, saying that it would be easier to learn to speak “Flamingo”. He decides he has had enough studying, and they should rather set off on an adventure! He grabs his magic bag and Meli picks up her journal. They head off to the Serendipity Forest. Mac notices a pink feather. They discover that it belongs to a flamingo who speaks French! Freddie, the flamingo has flown all the way from France. He has lost his way and is worried that he will be late for the Shrimp Extravaganza. He explains that flamingos from all over the world gather at the lake every year. To make matters worse, he is losing his pink colour. He tells the children that flamingos get their pink colour from eating shrimps and algae. They agree to help him find the lake. Will they succeed in their mission? This delightful children’s story has beautiful illustrations and just like Mac is inspired to persevere with learning French, children will be encouraged to learn a few words of French. The book has 2 pages of helpful information to help readers learn a few French phrases. This imaginative and original 19 page story shows how useful and fun learning a language can be.

Join Mac and Meli as they set off on an exciting adventure in Serendipity Forest, help new friends and learn a bit of French along the way.
This is a vibrant picture book delivers on two fronts, it offers an adventure with siblings Mac and Meli as they help the lost Flamingo Freddie to find his way to the Shrimp Extravaganza while also introducing some simple French phrases from our french flamingo and also through Mac’s studying for their trip to Paris. This feels like a great way of introducing learning languages to readers at a younger age, without it detracting from the main storyline or being intimidating. The translations are helpfully offered on the story page so you don’t have to break the flow by flipping to the end and back. However the translation as well as some extra terms are included at the end.
This is the fist book in a series and it has great scope.... Read Full Review
