A kangaroo collision with a eucalyptus tree causes a chain of comic events in this outback-set little picture book adventure. The bash as her head hits a branch knocks down the sleepy koala, the busy bug and the hungry water dragon lizard, with a passing emu caught up in the chaos. Fortunately, none of them is seriously hurt and the cumulative effects of the accident will certainly entertain its young audience. As an added treat, the final page features The Crush Kangaroo’s Song with a jolly chorus that will have little Matildas and Mats dancing round the room!
They are all in search of some shade and food on a very hot day. The Koala, enjoying his eucalyptus leaves, watches as events happen around him. Then a bug, a water dragon lizard, an Emu and a mother Kangaroo with her Joey, all enter the story.
See what eventually happens and causes an hilarious crush between them in this sunny desert savannah.
Ian wrote The Crush Series books many years ago, along with hundreds of poems, both to keep his 4 young children happy and occupied on family holidays, as well as to be able to discuss and explain the circle of life. As Ian’s career in surveying grew, as did his children, and so his love of writing took a back seat in his life. The tragic death of Ian’s son Robert at the age of 27 led to him dusting off the draft of his books and getting them published as The Crush Series. He also established a charitable foundation in his son’s name.
