I enjoyed reading this charming 36-page children’s book. It radiates positive energy with its quirkily -illustrated main character, Mattison Mouse and the variety of bright colours in the illustrations. Each page has a few lines of text and a cute illustration with cheerful colours. Mattison Mouse leaves his house to go for a walk. He is enjoying himself in his own little world, humming a song. He hears footsteps behind him. He is not sure who or what is behind him. This makes him walk faster and faster and his favourite hat blows off his head. We can imagine his little legs speeding up and we see the perplexed expression on his face captured in the illustrations, as he swings his arms to make himself go faster. We smile to ourselves as we realize this is no longer an enjoyable, leisurely walk for him, he is exercising quite hard! Read the book to see who or what is following Mattison and learn the reason why. Children will love the element of surprise and finding out what happens next in the story. This book will be helpful for children learning to count up to 10 and will also spark discussions with young readers on the various characters, objects and activities shown in the book.
Wearing his favorite hat, Mattison Mouse is happy to venture outside on a beautiful day. Soon the little mouse hears mysterious footsteps behind him. What started out as a cheerful stroll turns uncertain as he begins to count animals who appear to be shadowing him. In a rush to run away, Mattison trips and loses his hat. It’s only then he learns to overcome his worries, surprised by the special party his animal friends have planned for him. Children can help count the fun party favors as everyone joyfully celebrates Mattison’s best birthday ever.
