About
Spikey and the Mischief of Magpies Synopsis
What do a lost terrapin, a lively squirrel and a snail without a shell have in common? They all make friends with Spikey, the little hedgehog, as he continues his journey around Regent’s Park in London. The snail is being chased by three hungry magpies, and Spikey’s new pals need to use all their courage, strength and quick-thinking to ward off the danger. And even if they succeed, where can another snail-shaped shell be found?
This is the third book in Tereza Hepburn’s heart-warming series about a brave little hedgehog, and it has all the excitement, danger, humour and love of Spikey’s two previous adventures, Spikey and Spikey and the Caterpillar Sausage Cat.
A book for home or school that adults can read with first readers and that more advanced readers can read by themselves. The book also features two levels of reading comprehension questions for younger and older readers.
Supported by Hedgehog Street, a charity campaign which seeks to stop the decline in hedgehog numbers and encourage people to create hedgehog-friendly gardens.

Tereza Hepburn Press Reviews
'As an educational psychologist having recently undertaken research into bibliotherapy, it is apparent how books such as the Spikey series can really help children in dealing with anxiety and in supporting their mental health and wellbeing. My research findings also show how such books are an invaluable tool in supporting children's problem solving skills, and equipping them with strategies to help them overcome difficulties with social interactions. That these books are so well written and beautifully illustrated only adds to their usefulness both as a therapeutic device and as simply very good stories...!' - Dr Gavin Morgan, educational psychologist at University College London; Chair of the British Psychology Society's Division of Educational and Child Psychology

About Tereza Hepburn
Tereza Hepburn (nee Anteneová) is orginally from Prague. Tereza was inspired by the long summer days that she spent with her father at their cottage in the countryside, lying in the grass and watching the wildlife; telling each other stories about the lives, hopes and dreams of all the animals they saw. Now she is a TV news reporter, TV presenter, radio broadcaster and a PR professional with over 20 years of experience as a media expert. Tereza has written many political and women’s columns for magazines, newspapers and websites and she provides presentation skills training for the Government Legal Department in London and around the UK.
She is also part of the team at The Centre for Political & Diplomatic Studies in London which helps countries to prepare for the EU presidency. She accompanied the Czech Prime Minister to the White House to cover his Presidential meetings, and asked President Barack Obama questions for her news channel both in the Oval Office and during his state visits to the Czech Republic. And she is currently an official British contributor to the Czech Radio and CNN/Prima News and Czech TV, where she comments on British politics.
Tereza lives in London, with her husband John and their two cats, Meowglish and Johnson.
