Below the bridge, beneath the log, underneath the burping bog, where townsfolk whispered, cringed and crept, a terrifying monster slept...
As group after group of animals encounter the dreaded bridge, they are confronted with the terrible Troll hidden in the depths below.
Inspired by internet trolls, cloaked in anonymity, he delights in shouting mean things to passersby, hurting feelings just for fun. That's until a little deaf rabbit unknowingly crosses his path and shows concern for the Troll as he looks so cross. Finally understanding the hurt his words and actions have caused, Troll learns the errors of his ways and realises his behaviour has isolated him and caused so much harm to others.
As he tries to make amends he realises he must pluck up the courage, start to change the voice inside his head and learn to first be kind to himself. An absolute delight!

A funny, heartwarming story about internet trolling and learning to love yourself.
Below the bridge, beneath the log, underneath the burping bog, where townsfolk whispered, cringed and crept, a terrifying monster slept... In this funny tale, inspired by both internet trolls and The Three Billy Goats Gruff, there is a terrifying troll that lives under a bridge.
Unseen, he delights in shouting nasty things to passers-by. But when a d/Deaf bunny unwittingly faces up to him, he realises that it's not so fun to say nasty things to someone's face. Can Troll finally learn to love himself and others?
This is a funny story that addresses internet trolling in an accessible way.
A charming character-led tale with Troll learning the error of his ways and getting a second chance.

About Frances Stickley
Frances Stickley grew up in Nottingham and Norwich, where she spent much of her time making up poems and dressing up her dog. She is a trained children's literacy specialist and a primary school teacher who is happiest when she is covered in paint or stuck in a book. Frances first realised her love for writing with the poem, 'My Dad's Milkfloat', when she was six.
In 2017, Frances was the winner of the Bloomsbury and National Literacy Trust short story prize. She lives with her family and a big-eared dog called Babbage. When she is not writing, you'll probably find her in a forest playing dragons with her daughters.
