Created by art psychotherapist Fransie Frandsen, Are Mummies Scared of Monsters? is a brilliant book for parents to share with their 3+ year-olds. Every bright, bold, richly-textured page invites interesting, fun discussions through unleashing the imagination. What’s more, the book’s surreal spirit might just help alleviate bedtime fears of pesky monsters.
One night, everyone is asleep except for Alexander, who’s wide awake, thanks to the noisy monster under his bed. “Shh,” Alexander warns. “You’ll wake Mummy and then she might make us eat broccoli”. When the monster asks “Isn’t Mummy scared of monsters?”, Alexander bravely declares that he’s definitely not scared of them, before making a list of everyone he knows who shares his fearlessness. With a playful, light-hearted touch, and a fun twist in the tale, Are Mummies Scared of Monsters? encourages children to embrace a spirit of curiosity.
