Children will love this story of a speedy skateboarding dog and his slower friend. Dubbin is eager to get out of the door even before breakfast, and can go wheeling down the street faster than feet on his skateboard. Todd gamely tries to keep up, taking his bone with him, which is a big mistake. He can’t keep up, and then another dog steals his bone. Fortunately Dubbins is fearless as well as fast and saves the day. The rhyming text rolls along as speedily and smoothly as Dubbin’s skateboard wheels and both dogs are appealing characters. Well worth jumping on for the ride! ~Andrea Reece
Inspired by stories of skateboarding dogs, award-winning illustrator Gillian McClure has created this exciting adventure for dog friends Dubbin and Todd. Dubbin can go faster than feet on his skateboard, leaving Todd struggling to keep up. Sharp-eyed children will notice that someone else is after the bone Todd is carrying, but when it’s snatched away, Dubbin can outpace the thief too and all ends happily! McClure’s lively, rhyming text will delight young children and their parents. Illustrations in watercolour and gouache have a grainy effect from rock salt crystals to capture the texture of pavements.
“I absolutely love it, and so will my grandchildren. It’s energetic and jubilant!” Kevin Crossley-Holland
