The bright bold illustrations really carried this story of a little dog and its cute and very likeable expressions and, together with the smelly pages make it a fun book to share with your toddler. The story is about Theo who loses his sense of smell and goes off to the park in search of it, smelling roses and ice creams without success. The reader however is able to sniff the pages and smell the aromas wafting off the page. Thus it encourages children to be aware of their own sense of smell. Theo goes home and eats his dinner and falls asleep in his bed. The story could have ended on a stronger note but children will enjoy the novelty of finding the smell on each page. Gentle and endearing.
