A welcome return of a delightfully tiny giant. Everything has changed on Mount Grumble as the Smallings – or humans - have gone. But, while all the other giants celebrate, Muncle Trogg worries that something is going badly wrong… Luckily his own person human friend, Emily, has remained behind and together they hatch a plan. The wonderfully topsy turvy giant world delights again.
This is the sequel to Muncle Trogg, winner of the Times/Chicken House Children's Fiction Competition 2010. The Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition has been searching for the most talented, undiscovered writers of children’s fiction since 2008. Leading top authors such as Julia Donaldson and Michelle Paver have judged the competition alongside Chicken House publisher, Barry Cunningham. The first winner was Emily Diamand in 2008 with her novel, Flood Child. Sophia Bennett’s Threads won in 2009. Muncle Trogg has been a gigantic success - there's even a film from Sony Pictures Animation on its way. The winner of the 2011 competition, Kieran Larwood’s Freaks, will be released this April. Press Reviews
Janet Foxley Press Reviews
Praise for Muncle Trogg:
“Janet Foxley’s Muncle Trogg, the deserved winner of The Times’ 2010 Children’s Fiction Competition, is also recommended. Its story of an undersized giant has a lot going for it, including ingenious black and white illustrations by Steve Wells.” - Independent on Sunday
‘…funny, enjoyably yucky and entertainingly illustrated.’ - The Times
‘…The novel is enormously satisfying, a hugely enjoyable romp, with some great characters (including a wonderfully badly behaved young dragon called Snarg) and lots that will have children laughing out loud. The book’s design, all smudged pages and knowingly annotated sketches, adds even more to its appeal…’ -Andrea Reece, Books for Keeps
