Baby Troll doesn't want to be left with the babysitter - a familiar tale for Mum's wanting an occasional night out. Of course, Baby Troll has a great time in the end.
Tiny Troll loves his mummy more than anything, even puddles and earwigs, but when Mrs Troll begins curling her bristles, ready to go out, Tiny Troll bursts into tears. He wants to go too! What will it take for Mrs Hag, the babysitter, to settle him down to sleep? Patience, cuddles and mud-milk. And a goodnight kiss from Mum when she gets home.
Dawn McNiff lives in Gloucestershire with her two teenage daughters, and her big, bad dog, Gooner. They all squash into a little cottage that needs a jolly good tidy-up – but Dawn would much rather write than hoover. In 2008, she completed an MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University, and loved every moment. In the past, she has worked as a Bereavement Counsellor and an Advertising Copywriter – but her best job ever was in a children's bookshop. She now writes her own stories, grows beans and works in a school.
Dawn says.....“I was inspired to write Mummy’s Little Monster by my daughters, Poppy and Lola. Sometimes if I went out when they were small, they would shriek and cling on to my legs like baby monkeys. Of course they always had a lovely time with the babysitter in the end - just like Tiny Troll.”
