Father Thames is the page-turning sequel to London Deep (click here), set in London, now a sinking city where two rival police forces - kids vs adults - compete to keep the peace. Rebellious teen Jemima is determined in her new role within the Youth Police Department to track down her mother who turns out to be one of the leaders of a 'terrorist' group undermining the city. With non-stop adrenalin-fuelled drama throughout it won't disappoint both new and existing ardent fans of the London Deep series. The mix of text and graphic novel artwork throughout the book adds a further level to the story.
Jemima Mallard has done the unthinkable, she's joined the Youth Police Department (YPD). Is she serious, or is she spying for the criminal Father Thames? Fellow YPD officer Nick Mallard isn't sure. Before he can test her loyalty, the two must go to war. Their city is under attack. From the Thames Barrier Reef to the Sink estates, strange ships have breached the defences. London hasn't seen anything like these raiders - adults and kids sailing and working together. But orders are orders, Jem must find find a way to stop them.
‘London Deep is a really amazing story about a twelve year old girl called Jemima Mallard. She lives in a flooded London of the future!! ... This book is a very enjoyable read with lots of drama action and fun. The comic pics are very enjoyable to look at and they fit well with this kind of story.’ - Abigail, aged 10.
'Is this part graphic novel, part standard text, or is it a story with illustrations...? It made my head ache, but my eleven year old loved it and seemed to have no trouble cutting backwards and forwards between the two...' - Rachel Ayers Nelson, School Librarian Magazine
