A wordless picture book – only the sounds of the sledge and its riders on the snow are spelt out - and set in a deeply snowy landscape, this is beautifully warm hearted story for a wintery night. When a child leaves his much loved sledge outside the back door for the night he has no idea of the adventures it will have while he sleeps! Only the footprints in the snow give the game away. Soon, he is joining in too! Simple illustrations tell this story perfectly.
In this almost wordless picture book, a host of woodland creatures take a child's sledge for a night time joy ride. Their whimsical ride is gorgeously depicted in bold watercolour, complemented by humorous expressions and pitch-perfect sound effects.
The book begs to be read aloud and offers wonderful opportunities for audience participation. This delightful flight of fancy conveys the true excitement of sledding with the imagined fun of befriending wildlife. A gem. School Library Journal, Starred Review
