No-one likes tidying, but it has to be done and this original picture book puts a colourful jumbled heap of mess at the centre of a lively story. Cat seems to be responsible for the mess but refuses to listen to Dog who wants to clear it up. Under pressure, Cat tries a variety of methods to get rid of the mess – comically he tries to hide it, eat it, and even blow it up. It’s all fun, but as dog points out, it’s not proper tidying. At last they find a way to work together. A nicely nutty story that fizzes with invention, and makes a serious point too: what are we going to do with all this rubbish we’ve created? ~ Andrea Reece
Cat has made a mess and she won't tidy it up - no matter how many times Dog asks her. Can Dog convince Cat, a giraffe and two penguins to clean up this very messy book.
Children will laugh out loud at the quirky illustrations from the exciting new talent Richard Smythe (Beep Beep Beep Time For Sleep!) and will pore over the fabulously clever design. Packed with humour and adorably funny animal characters, The Messy Book is the perfect story for anyone who has ever been told to tidy their room.
When not writing, Maudie spends far too much of her time in expensive shops gawping at clothes and glittery things she can't afford, and dreaming about owning a pug called Stanley. She'd love to say that she runs marathons - but that would be a lie.
