Various Press Reviews
There's so much to enjoy and admire in A Change Is Gonna Come. The book introduces new BAME talent as well as offering short stories by more established novelists, with Ayisha Malik and Irfan Master both featuring in addition to those I've mentioned. This is an excellent collection of topical, emotive, eye-opening fiction; it's educational without being didactic, and it's exactly the kind of writing that will help to create a better and more more open-minded world. -- Katy Goodwin-Bates - Wilde on my Side
I loved this, especially Catherine Johnson's piece and Tanya Byrne's. I couldn't tell who the new authors were because they were so good. Excellent anthology! -- Rebecca McCormick
#ChangeBook is a must-read this summer. The whole thing is just so smart, touching and beautiful - impossible to choose a favourite story! -- Sonya Lalli
A Change Is Gonna Come is one of my most anticipated reads for the latter half of this year. Although the anthology features a host of already established BAME authors, it was my first time reading anything by the majority of its contributors. I particularly enjoyed reading the short stories from the four new voices; Aisha Bushby, Phoebe Roy, Mary Bello and Yasmin Rahman. The combined talent is outstanding. The anthology is made up of short stories that each respond to the theme of change, as well as two poems that are placed at the beginning and the end. Each piece interprets the theme in a unique way, allowing for a diverse collection of writing that deals with other important and timely issues. -- Nadia - Words Beneath The Wings (Scorpioreads)
From start to finish, the anthology has been a true delight to read. From larger-scale politics to individual battles, dystopia to history, anger to love, the collection houses an inspirational collection of voices - all of which are bound by the same energy and vigour, the same desire to bring about something new. I hope these stories will encourage others to put pen to paper and let their words soar out of their imagination into the world. -- Pooja Puri
The stories and poetry in A Change is Gonna Come hit home, whether they're set in today's world or in alternate universes. At the core of them all is a need to understand who we are today, and how we all fit in, even as we keep changing. A Change is Gonna Come is an essential collection for young people, and all readers, who feel other to realise that they are not alone. -- Sarah Shaffi
This anthology is a veritable treasure trove of talent, featuring both present and future YA stars. With stories that are by turns heart-warming, thought-provoking and unsettling, A Change Is Gonna Come has something for everyone. I highly recommend this book. -- Cat Clarke
I love this wonderful collection by some of the UK's most brilliant writers for young people, published at a time when many of our teenagers need it most. Eclectic in genre, emotion and style, but united by theme and brilliance, 'Change' is one of the best anthologies of short stories for young adults out there. I adored Tanya Byrne's gorgeous story about second love and the new writers' contributions are all absolutely cracking, signalling some very exciting emerging talents. -- Wei Ming Kam
One day I want to take the representation of BAME voices in YA for granted. I want every young person to find their reflection in a book and discover themselves through fiction. Bold and inspiring, this book leads the way. -- Mariam Khan
This anthology, commissioned in response to the lack of diverse voices in UK publishing, is much-needed and long overdue. -- Fiona Noble - The Bookseller
