Oceanology purports to be the true account of the incredible voyage under the sea undertaken by a certain Captain Nemo in his submarine the Nautilus in 1863. This notebook was compiled by the ship's 16-year-old research assistant, Zoticus de Lesseps, and records his findings - from the wonders of the natural world to the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. The only member of the expedition to return alive, and forever haunted by the truth of his discoveries, he bequeathed this journal to a novelist named J Verne.
