LoveReading4Kids Says
Packed with information, facts and the real-life stories of some amazing dogs, this is a terrific book for young dog lovers, and what really sets it apart is the fact that it’s written by author Carlie Sorosiak, of I, Cosmo fame, whose enthusiasm and love for dogs shines through on every page.
She tells us how her discovery that the dog she had adopted was a ‘Carolina Dog’, an American Dingo, set her off to find out as much as she could about her pet, which in turn set her learning as much as she could about dogs in general. She shares all that she learned through the book, so there are chapters on the history of dogs, and how they came to be man’s best friend, on how their sense of smell works, even what music they like best. She also includes those stories of working dogs and famous dogs from history and the movies.
She concludes that the more we learn about dogs, the more we learn about ourselves, so closely are our evolutions linked. It’s hard to disagree with that after the evidence she’s presented, or with her conviction that all dogs are special.
With colour illustrations by Luisa Uribe, it’s a treat to look at as well as to read, and will be a favourite with young dog lovers.
