LoveReading4Kids Says
Nikita Gill is a wonderful poet with a deservedly huge fan base. Her voice rings loud and clear in these engaging retellings of classic animal stories first written in Sanskrit in the Panchatantra. They star a range of animals - cheeky, quick-thinking jackals, new lapwing parents, clever mice, and a not-so-clever crocodile.
Each of the ten stories opens with an invitation to listeners, certain to make them feel the storyteller is talking direct to them. They conclude with suggestions for what children might learn from the stories and the animals’ behaviour, some of it worth copying, some of it definitely not!
They read aloud as beautifully as you’d expect and are certain to be much requested at bedtime and all other story-sharing opportunities. Chaaya Prabhat’s illustrations are as warm and vivid as the narration.
