Everyone is looking forward to snacks and games, spooky stories in the dorm and crazy dares in the lagoon. But Marnie is dreading it, she doesn’t like ghost stories and thinks she’ll miss her mum. Her glamorous aunty, Christabel, persuades her to give it a go and even lends Marnie a magic shell to make sure everything goes well.
In fact, after a bumpy start, the trip is lots of fun, even when Marnie is trapped in the supposedly haunted old wreck. It’s another sweet but very satisfying story and young readers, ready to tackle short chapter books will love spending time with Marnie and her friends. Sheena Dempsey’s illustrations are delightful too.
