"A charming mouse-eye view of the endless adventures offered in books and bookshops"
It’s little Astrid’s first day at Maple Street Mouse School and the day starts with her new classmates telling her about themselves.
Brie lives at Truckles, the cheese shop; Huck’s parents look after the street’s tunnels from underneath the hardware shop; and Baxter’s family run a café serving the yummiest crumbs. When Astrid tells them about her family, how her mum is an astromouse and how Astrid and her dad love to swim in tropical lagoons, Brie calls her a fibber. But Astrid lives under the bookshop and there are different adventures to have every evening.
As word spreads about Astrid’s amazing, adventure-filled home, she gets more and more popular, though her mum has the last word! It’s a lovely story, the little mice are very cute indeed, and what a gorgeous demonstration of the power of reading, of books and bookshops.
Children love miniature worlds and will particularly relish the chance to peep into the little mice shops and houses.
