What an extraordinary family we meet in this glorious picture book. From magicians Uncle Marvello and Auntie Shazam (aka Eric and Pam) to speedy runaway Baby Cedric, to Auntie Amanda, teaching mice to dance, they’re all eccentric, unique and clearly great company. They spring to life in Quentin Blake’s illustrations, with flying elbows and dancing feet, John Yeoman’s rhyming text galloping along with them from page to page. This is undiluted fun from beginning to end and a joy to read and share.
Everyone's family is different, but none more so than this one from the imagination of legendary team John Yeoman and Quentin Blake.
Meet Uncle Marvello and Auntie Shazam: magicians extraordinaire... they can even make your watch disappear. And Cousin Charlie, who cooks up a feast... then eats it all himself.
From uncles and cousins to babies and elderly aunts, everyone in this family is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud!
John Yeoman was for many years Head of English at the French Lycée in London. His collaboration with Quentin Blake began in 1960, and has resulted in a long list of successful children’s books of which a number of earlier well-loved titles are now being republished by Andersen Press for new generations of readers.
