This book is fab for anyone who likes stories about magic and mystery. It's main character is Sam, who finds a stone which leads him on a magical and somewhat spooky adventure.hope there will be many more of these books as I couldn't put it down!
This book is fab for anyone who likes stories about magic and mystery. It's about Sam who has just lost his father and is struggling to navigate his way through childhood and grief. He finds a fascinating stone and has a felling that it is very different to anything he has found before. The story becomes mysterious and strange things start to happen, and this makes you want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. I love the illustrations in this book as they really help to add to the images in your head and the way the book is written through Sam's own eyes, including his thoughts and feelings. Stone is a book that follows the story of a young boy named Sam who had recently lost his father at war and is mourning with his mother and his sister, Beth. One day he goes for a walk with his dog in the middle of the night and finds a mysterious stone laying on the ground. As his fingertips touches the stone he sees an incredible vision that shows his father on a hill. But his father was dead, wasn’t he?
Read on as Sam struggles to hold onto what is reality and what is a supernatural vision whilst dealing with feelings towards a girl called Oona, he met at a party. As if this wasn’t enough his childhood bully has come back to annoy him and maybe put him in hospital.... Read Full Review
It is an exciting and thought-provoking read.
Sam’s father is a soldier. One day, he is killed by a bomb in Afghanistan. Sam grieves and misses his father terribly. He also feels guilty about the last time he spoke to his father. The funeral is unbearable, and Sam is angry because he doesn’t know how to deal with the pain and remorse. He also knows that life will never be the same. Then Sam finds a stone that gives him visions in which he sees his father.
Going back to school after the funeral is awful, but then a new girl arrives – an Irish girl called Oona. Sam is enchanted by her, but he is also jealous of his best friend, Chad, whom he believes likes Oona.... Read Full Review
