"Thrilling, thought-provoking adventure that more than matches video games for immersive excitement"
With reading for pleasure amongst young people apparently declining at an alarming rate, books that match video games for immersive excitement are needed more than ever and Christopher Edge is just the writer to deliver. This stand alone follow up to his excellent first Escape Room adventure sees its protagonist Eden actually inside The Escape, the ultimate escape room and an online game. She has monsters to face, weapons to collect and puzzles and challenges at every step with an added level of danger: what happens if she loses the game? As we follow Eden and fellow player Ted, who is safely in the real world, and learn more about the world of The Escape, things get even more intriguing and thought-provoking with readers led to weigh up the benefits of the real world versus the virtual.
This is sort of a spoiler, but a familiarity with one of Emily Dickinson’s favourite poems helps Eden solve a particularly crucial challenge, and gives an indication of the respect this author has for his readers.

A unique and interesting book telling the tale of a young girl who enters an escape room type video game. She has to solve puzzles, locate keys and survive in a dangerous world.

I love the way the music kept changing to show tension as it was like a computer game or tv show. I think my brother might like this too and it wasn't too scary.... Read Full Review
