About

Maisie vs Antarctica Synopsis

Adventure awaits the most daring of readers in this epic father-daughter expedition filled with thrills, spills and even a few supernatural chills. . .

A cross between Adventures on Trains and My Brother is a Superhero, this first book in a brilliant new series takes you on a non-stop adventure in Antarctica. Filled with humour, heart and a touch of the supernatural, these books are perfect for the most intrepid of readers!

Maisie thinks her dad is the most boring person in the world. For fun he likes to do origami (but only basic triangles) or jigsaw puzzles of a cloudless sky (yep, every piece is blue). He writes cool-sounding books like How To Wrestle A Crocodile and How To Defuse A Bomb, but he's never actually done any of the awesome things he writes about. But Maisie has to admit weird things happen around Dad. Unexplainable things...

When childcare falls through and Dad has to take Maisie to Antarctica to research his next book, How To Survive In Antarctica, Maisie realises there is definitely something unusual about Dad - not only can he speak languages she never knew he could, he manages to crash-land a plane and somehow save her from being eaten by a leopard seal! What is going on? How is any of this possible? Can her dad teleport? Is he a superhero or something else entirely?

Maisie is determined to find out the truth about who her dad is. What she doesn't realise is that she'll discover some things about herself and what it really means to be a hero along the way. One thing is for sure - it's going to be the adventure of a lifetime!

I Absolutely loved it! It is great book and impossible to put down.

I loved the style of writing because the storyline was easier to follow than some of my other books I’ve got at home. It was thrilling and impossible to put down. When I first got it I curled up on the sofa and started reading. I loved the part where they crashed into Antarctica. I also loved Maisie’s personality. I’d recommend it to all my friends and I’m sure that they’d love it to.

A great adventure that I completely lost track of time reading as it great!

This is a really exciting adventure with unexpected twists. I completely lost track of time reading this as I got so caught up in the story right from the very beginning. Maisie lives with her dad as her mum died when she was a baby, and she thinks that nothing exciting ever happens, that all that happens is that she does 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles until her dad agrees to take her on a trip to Antarctica for research for his new book. When the plane crash lands, the adventures (and strange happenings) begin. I loved all the information on Antarctica and Maisie was a great character who I liked.... Read Full Review

I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh.

I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh. The book is about a girl called Maisie who goes to Antarctica with her dad. I really liked Maisie and wanted to have an adventure like her. She made me think that I was a lot like her because I love writing and so does she. Maisie has a boring dad who likes to do endless jigsaws and correct train timetables. He also writes books about things that he never had time to do. But then Maisie realise something that makes her dad really exciting. He has a power. And that she has inherited it. She begins to realise just how much she can do with it.... Read Full Review
