Sequel to Bridget Vanderpuff and the Baked Escape, Martin Stewart’s Bridget Vanderpuff and the Ghost Train gleams with a vibrant sense of adventure and spooky shenanigans. And all this is propelled by the energy and invention of Bridget Vanderpuff, an orphan who escaped a lonely life at Miss Acrid’s Orphanage for Errant Childs (sic) when she was adopted by kindly Mr Ernest Vanderpuff, “the world’s finest baker”, and proprietor of Vanderpuff’s Bake Shop.
Bridget’s Belle-on-Sea home town is preparing for the Night of the Hungry Ghosts, with Mr Vanderpuff's bake set to sit centre stage. Problem is, he needs to invent something truly spectacular for this most marvellous, spooky occasion. Add to that the arrival of a ghost train, mysterious vanishings, and a rising sense of peril and you have a situation that sees Bridget and her friend Tom get into detective mode to save Belle-on-Sea and its residents, including Mr Vanderpuff.
Characterful, compelling and packed with warmth, this fun feast of adventure is also sprinkled with explanatory footnotes that add further whimsy, while David Habben’s illustrations are a bedazzlement of energy.

About
Bridget Vanderpuff and the Ghost Train Synopsis
In this sequel to Bridget Vanderpuff and the Baked Escape, Belle-on-Sea is getting ready for the Night of the Hungry Ghosts, the spookiest time of the year. Mr Vanderpuff's bake will be the centrepiece of the whole parade, but he needs a new creation and he's totally stumped. To make matters worse, salty old seadog, Captain Lufty, and his Hat Rat, Barry, have warned that something is coming to Belle-on-Sea. Something terrible...
When a ghost train is seen rattling into town, and people start to go missing - first the librarian, then the Mayor - Bridget and Tom begin tracking the train's tracks, delighted to be in the thick of another mystery. Then the unthinkable happens: the ghost train takes Mr Vanderpuff! Someone - or something - is out to destroy Belle-on-Sea. But they've forgotten one important detail...
This is Bridget's town. Bridget must save the missing people from their perilous prisons, rescue the parade, and come up with an idea for Mr Vanderpuff's Hungry Ghosts bake, before it's too late.
