Max has a very unfortunate talent. He just has to touch something electric for it to break (and give him a nasty shock in the process). You can imagine how hard this makes his life. After an incident with their new electric car, his mum sends him to stay with his grandfather. Max has no idea what’s to come! His grandad is a Spellstopper, with the ability to remove broken or troublesome magic from enchanted objects and so is Max. He just has to learn how to control his powers. His grandfather’s village, Yowling, is full of magic and magical creatures too but their lives are made miserable by the thoroughly nasty Leandra, ensconced in a crumbling castle at its centre.

Can Max and his new friends defeat her, or will she force them to make her even stronger? This adventure will be summer reading bliss for those who like their stories full of magic, the unexpected, excitement and ice-cream!

Spellstoppers is a great adventure, full of magic and mystery with a little danger added in.

When Spellstoppers arrived I thought it looked a bit young for me but I love any books with any magic in so I thought I would give it a chance.

One chapter in and I didn't want to put it down.  Max, Kit and Grandad Bram had a full on magical? adventure. What had me hooked was that Max is literally the opposite to most main characters in magic books, he has to stop the magic not create it.

I read this book in two sittings, I found it was easy to read, had great characters and has a fast paced story.... Read Full Review

A book with an enchanting and mesmerizing storyline.

Spellstoppers is a magical book full of interesting spells and exciting twists. Max, a boy with an ordinary life, believed that he has been given an awful curse, until he meets his Grandfather who drags him away from the bustling streets of London to the deserted lanes of the village of Yowling. When a sinister castle with a dangerous keeper in Yowling is slowly shrinking to it's doom, the keepers suddenly need help and won't surrender without a fight. Max has set out on an adventure with the guidance of a helpful friend and with the help of the ability of fixing misbehaving magical items.

Reading this book, was exhilarating as I watched Max being plunged into the world of spellstopping.... Read Full Review
