Grace’s family are wardens of the Griffin Map, using its teleport technology to solve problems across Moreland. Grace and Tom are the youngest wardens, and in this adventure they face an unusual conundrum.
It’s July and very hot at their base in Copperport but arriving in the town of Oakwell, which has sent a request for help, they find it knee deep in snow, preventing the opening of the town’s famous summer market.
It turns out that it’s all being caused by a machine created with all the best intentions by a young girl. With the conditions making it impossible for backup (Mum!) to get through, they’ll have to work together to put things right.
As with all Vashti Hardy’s books, the story celebrates teamwork, problem-solving and ingenuity, and it’s another irresistible and thoroughly satisfying helping of adventure.
It's the height of summer in Moreland, and Grace Griffin and her fellow warden Tom Eely are sweltering in the heat until they answer a strange call for help that comes through on the amazing Griffin map.
After teleporting to Oakwell, they find the town paralysed by a freezing snowstorm, which is ruining the famous summer market that brings in visitors and trade.
Using their mystery-solving skills and amazing inventions, can Grace and Tom find the cause for the weird weather and restore summer from the snow?
