Holly Webb is one of our best-loved writers and no wonder. Her books mix adventure, family, friends and animals, are perfectly pitched for their audience and always rewarding reading. This story is set on the river Thames where Lissa is spending the summer holidays with her dad on his new houseboat. All starts well and she’s enjoying life onboard until her dad gets caught up in a new project at work. Feeling lonely and neglected she spots a young seal, apparently lost and in danger. Lissa is determined to help but in fact Pup, as she names the seal, proves just as much a rescuer. With its riverbank setting this is perfect summer reading, but, full of drama and deftly described emotions not to mention the tension of Pup’s predicament, will be satisfying at any time of year.
When Lissa spends the summer with her dad on his boathouse, she can't help but feel a little lonely. She misses her mum and sister back home, and her dad's job means that he can't spend as much time with her as she'd hoped. Then one morning during a paddle boarding lesson she spots a lost seal pup in the river trying to find its way home. Lissa wants to help her, but can she protect the young seal without scaring her away?

About Holly Webb
Holly Webb was born and grew up in south-east London, but spent a lot of time on the Suffolk coast. As a child, she had two dogs, a cat, and at one point, nine gerbils (an accident). At about ten, Holly fell in love with stories from Ancient Greek myths, which led to studying Latin and Greek, and eventually to reading Classics at university. She worked for five years as a children's fiction editor, before deciding that writing was more fun, and easier to do from a sofa. She started writing several years ago while working as a children’s books editor. She has written over ninety books including the Animal Stories, My Naughty Little Puppy and Maisie Hitchins series for Stripes Publishing. Holly has also written In The Clever Little Kitten for World Book Day and a sequel to The Secret Garden. Holly Webb lives in Berkshire with her husband, children and three cats.
