Delightful and distinctive retro artwork and stylish typography has helped to create a hugely appealing picture book featuring Mr Peek, the zoo keeper, his son Jimmy and the case of the wrong jacket. Likely to be the first of many featuring these two characters. Full of humour and a lightness of touch.
Mr Peek and the Misunderstanding at the Zoo Synopsis
Poor old Mr Peek has a bad start to his day! Putting on his son's jacket by mistake, he goes about his daily rounds at the zoo, grumbling about his seemingly growing belly and general appearance. Unbeknownst to Mr Peek, all the animals think he is talking about them and are not particularly happy with what they hear. Mr Peek's son, realising what has happened, trails his dad around the zoo to watch events unfold.
Selected as a Booktrust Best New Illustrator of 2011.
Kevin Waldron loves to draw animal characters, so when his sketchbook became a paper zoo, he created Mr Peek to take care of them all. Mr Peek’s Zoo was soon rather cramped in the sketchbook so Kevin released them all in his first ever picture book. With an MA in illustration from Kingston University, Kevin now lives in London. He enjoys cycling to work everyday at the studio he shares with other illustrators. He was chosen as one of the Booktrust Best New Illlustrators of 2011.
