"From a prize-winning author comes a magical story with thrills and dangers to excite everyone!"
Larabelle Fox is an orphan, a tosher who searches the sewers for any ‘treasure’ she can find, in the sewer system under Kings Haven. She is ranged against rival toshing gangs who want to rob her, as well as the powerful King’s Witch who wants to revive the Evernight in a bid to gain total power for herself. Unbeknownst to Lara she has found exactly what the King’s Witch and her awesomely scary djinn Shadow Jack are looking for – a box, long lost in the sewers. Can Lara discover what she can do with the box and its contents before the world succumbs to the evil of the Evernight?
This is a wild magical delight of a story. The bad guys are wickedly bad and seemingly undefeatable, whilst Lara and her friend Joe Littlefoot seem small and powerless. But they have quick wits and goodness on their side, as well as the witches, though it will mainly be down to Lara that a defence is put up to the Evernight.
This is the sort of book that will create a buzz of enjoyment, the fantasy world is well built, believable, cinematic and child friendly. The magic is fun, the friendship believable, the story is refreshing, and the feisty heroine is a delight to follow. I shall look forward to more books in this series.

Wow, just wow! You HAVE to read this book, it is soooooo good.
Oh my goodness this book is just so good!! I could not read it fast enough, but I didn’t ever want to finish it. I loved the world that Lara and her friends live in. It sounds a bit like London in Victorian times. I love fantasy stories and this one was so original. I really liked the idea of the wands and potions that were in the book. Instead of just a fancy stick that you ‘swish and flick’, the wands in Evernight have a barrel that has to be loaded with spells from bottles.
The descriptions are so great, you really feel like you are actually there in the world. I didn’t want to leave.... Read Full Review
I loved the dark magic in this imaginative book that really kept me on my toes.
Evernight is a really imaginative book about a girl called Lara who works as a Tosher, looking for treasures in the underground sewers and selling them on. One day she comes across a little box which opens up for her a whole new world of magic and so that adventure begins.
I really loved this book because I didn't know what would happen next. It had a really good storyline like no other book I had read.
I think it was a bit dark in places and so for that reason, I wouldn't recommend it to children under 10 and even then a sensitive 10-year-old might find it scary.
The second half of the book I found the best and the cover is just spot on.... Read Full Review
