More great reads: the best books for 13 year olds
This page-turning, roller-coaster story is vividly told by seventeen year old Vanessa, the timid younger sister who has always replied on her older sister Justine for protection. From the first day of their regular summer visit to their beach home, things are strange for Justine and Vanessa. They meet the dreamy brothers Caleb and Simon as usual but after that, nothing is the same again.
When Justine dies in a freak accident, Vanessa has to be brave on her own. The more she discovers, the more frightened she becomes – especially about herself!
Vanessa Sands returns to Winter Harbor to find out why her sister Justine leaped to her death. When Vanessa learns that Justine's boyfriend Caleb is missing too, she and Caleb's older brother Simon join forces to find him. As Vanessa and Simon spend time together, their relationship grows from childhood friendship to something more.
