" A book that can be read over and over again to give children confidence."
Alphabet Rhymes, written and illustrated by Alison Gibson is a fun children’s book. My first impression of the book was good when I saw the lovely, cheerful yellow book cover. It set the tone. Each page displays the relevant letter of the alphabet as a capital letter and in lowercase. Two short sentences describe the item beginning with the letter of the alphabet. The fact that the author has made some of the text rhyme adds to the enjoyment of reading the book. The simple, brightly coloured illustrations are part of the book’s charm. This book makes learning fun as well as educational. Readers and listeners will be eager to see which item has been chosen to represent each letter of the alphabet. Children of about 3 years of age will love the sweet pictures and learning the names of everything. The book will be useful for older children of about 5 or 6 years of age who are learning to recognize and write letters of the alphabet themselves as well as string them together to read. I highly recommend Gibson’s book. It’s contents are simple, direct, and uncluttered. A book that can be read over and over again to give children confidence.
