April 2016 Debut of the Month A parade of brightly coloured birds strut, fly and peck their way across the pages. Some are familiar, some fantastical, but they all look fabulous in psychedelic colours and patterns. The design is equally stylish, mirroring what the birds are doing – you’ll need to turn the book on its side for example to read about the bird that’s incredibly tall. Children will soon have the bouncy rhyming text off by heart – ‘some birds waddle, some birds hop/and some birds eat worms until they go pop’ – and it offers opportunities to examine concepts, actions, and the nature of birds – one spread of a downcast bird in a cage is followed by a glorious image of a swift soaring off into the top corner and away. Stylish, irresistible fun for all. ~ Andrea Reece
Some birds are big, some birds are small, and some birds are just incredibly tall. Some birds are caged, but most birds are FREE. A much better life, I'm sure you'll agree! Swooping and squawking, flapping and fluttering, there are many different kinds of birds in the world, all with their own special traits and abilities. Some Birds celebrates the colors and shapes of beaks and feathers with a rollicking, rhyming text and intricate design. The lively illustrations with a mod, retro feel are full of style and mesmerizing detail. Some Birds is a lovely gift that will have children and adults tweeting for more from a promising new talent in the design world.
