LoveReading4Kids Says
From the author of Nevertell and Glassheart, here is a wonderful new stand-alone fantasy adventure to sweep readers into a world full of dragons, heroism and magic.
Erskin has always lived in Lofotby, a small village in the shadow of Mountainfell. The villagers are fearful of Mountainfell and the wild creatures that live on its slopes, and think that anyone who goes there will return hex-addled, poisoned by its magic. But things are going wrong, there are terrifying earth tremors and then, shockingly, its huge cloud dragon swoops down, stealing away Erskin’s sister.
Heartbroken, and convinced her parents will blame her for the loss, Erskin sets off to save Birgit. Always an outsider, she goes alone save for her little cat Scrattletak, although unknown to her, a boy called Leif follows. Together, the two children discover secrets not just of Mountainfell but of their leaders too; and they need huge amounts of courage to prevent the destruction of mountain and village.
Beautifully written and perfectly imagined, the story is one of not just magic but self-discovery and self-confidence, and readers will be enchanted and inspired.
