"Lovely to read aloud and the pictures a perfect accompaniment, with just the right balance of surprise and snuggle-factor"
Who gives the best hugs? I think it’s a question all children can answer, but there is lots of fun to be had in this rhyming picture book which explores a wonderful assortment of possibilities.
A small child tries out bear hugs, koala cuddles and even a seahorse smooch, as well as a hippo huddle, a penguin peck and a porcupine prickle. When none of them prove quite right, there’s a narwhal to nuzzle and a rhino to wrestle. Of course, even these don’t quite make the grade because the best hugs are always to be found at home with the ones who love you best.
The story is lovely to read aloud and the pictures a perfect accompaniment, with just the right balance of surprise and snuggle-factor. The timing is spot on throughout too, with hugs all round guaranteed at the end. A really lovely book to share.
