Five children (no dog), members of the Misfits Club, come across some suspicious activity and even stolen treasure in a derelict old house. They start to investigate and find themselves up against a wicked, if not very competent criminal gang. It’s the kind of adventure that regularly exercises the Famous Five, but Kieran Crowley fills it with humour as well as excitement, and a very modern sensibility. The five children - Brian, twins Sam and Chris, Hannah and Amelia - are all proper characters and there’s lots about friendship and discovering truths about yourselves as well as chasing villains.
