June 2016 Debut of the Month
In a Nutshell: pirates – penguins – enchantments
Eddy Stone and the Epic Holiday Mash-Up is an epic story indeed, and possibly the most inventive piratical comedy-fantasy-adventure you’ll read this year. It starts with Eddy finding a pirate captain in his gran’s bath. But, before you know it the two of them, plus a nice shopkeeper thereafter known as the Crew, and a penguin are on board their own pirate ship, the Codcake, and embarked on a treasure hunt that leads them from one fantastical place and adventure to another. All the while pursued by the properly nasty Barracuda Bill!. As quests go, it’s a cracker and very, very funny too. Polished and very original, this is Simon Cherry’s debut novel and hopefully the first of many. ~ Andrea Reece
For more zany and satisfying pirate adventures, don’t miss The Unlikely Adventures of Mabel Jones while David Solomon’s prize-winning My Brother is a Superhero is also fast, funny and well-written.
