David Wojtowycz was born in 1969 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and after
an art foundation course at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology,
he took a BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, London University. He
recently completed an MA in Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Art and
Design.
David began his illustration career by creating the Pigs Might Fly and
Flux Deluxe greetings cards ranges and was soon talent-spotted and
asked to illustrate the popular picture book series that began with
RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE, written by Giles Andreae. COMMOTION IN THE OCEAN,
COCKADOODLE-DO FARMYARD HULLABALOO, DINOSAURS GALORE and several
novelty spin-offs followed this title. This author/illustrator pairing
also won the picture book section of the Children’s Book Award in 1998
with THE LION WHO WANTED TO LOVE.
In addition to illustrating the work of writers, David writes many of
his own picture book texts and in 2001, A CUDDLE FOR CLAUDE was
nominated for the Sheffield Book Award.
