This stunning, beautifully produced book is from Walker Studio whose aim is to produce “books for book lovers” and this will surely spark an interest in those from the very young to the very old. Very much a visual book, the illustrations that accompany each letter are inspired not just by the phonic quality of the letter but also the shape. For example A is illustrated with an acrobat standing astride a horse’s back. Each poster sized page is a work of art with stunning drawings by Norman Messenger that have a surreal quality and are simply fascinating to look at. This will be a book for lovers of art, encouraging us to look at words, language and letters in a slightly different way.
